A Smore newsletter is an interactive newsletter that can be embedded into your classroom website and sent directly to parents. What I love about this is that it's more personable and stands out from the norm of a send home letter. To be able to relay clear information and expectations along with a video can definitely help ease those first day jitters of not only students but parents as well. ISTE Standard #2 Leader, educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning. This technology can improve teaching and learning by effectively relaying the expectations for the year with parents and students in advance.

Powtoon is a visual communication platform where you can manage, create, and distribute videos. It's a web based animation software that's easy to use. They provide precreated templates that you can use and you are also able to import images, music, and even voice over audio. This technology can be used to teach a lesson or even provide general information. In the link I provided, me and my peers created a video on the importance of culturally responsive teaching. ISTE Standard #6 Facilitator explains how Educators facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students 6d Model and nurture creativity and creative expression to communicate ideas, knowledge or connections.

An Infographic is a great visual representation of data, information or knowledge that's intended to clearly and quickly present information. They're attention grabbing and much easier to understand. They're perfect for simplifying and consolidating information. This particular infographic covers budgeted school savings by explaining how to raise new revenues as well as where that money could be better spent. ISTE Standard #7 Analyst. Educators understand and use data to drive their instruction and support students in achieving their learning goals. In this case I chose to use an infograph to display the data that I wanted to be received.

Google slides is a presentation software and has many purposes, it can actually be used as a base for many other technologies. In this particular instance I was able to showcase the basic use of googles slides by creating a presentation on the importance of digital citizenship. ISTE Standard #3 Citizen. Educators inspire students to positively contribute to and responsibly participate in the digital world.

In the lesson plan above me and two of my peers showcased how we could work as a team to utilize Pear Deck, Jamboard, and google slides to create an effective lesson plan over the Texas Revolution. As you can tell by my online portfolio technology has proven to be beneficial in so many ways when it comes to enhancing the learning experience. However, not everyone agrees with technology when it comes to the social media aspect of it. In this paper I wanted to showcase the different avenues an educator could explore in order to enhance their PLN (personal learning network) if they decide social media isn't right for them.
